According to a report: poverty is on the rise, no surprise you might thing seeing as we’re in a recession. Interestingly though, the Joseph Rowntree Report findings show that things were going pear shaped even before the recession, with unemployment rising and property repossession on the up.
Obviously this has only got worse over the last 2 years and we now find ourselves with citizens suffering the same poverty levels as a decade ago in 2000. This 10 years without progress did have some ups with the report showing that poverty and repossessions were decreasing up until 2005/05. After that, more people started to lose their homes and their jobs as poverty levels increased.
